The shield fit my intake cone perfectly (please check the product details) and add’s a nice red color to complement my valve cover. The product does exactly what it was designed to and that’s to keep water from being sucked into the filter. I have run my engine and poured water over the filter with this installed and the water simply beads up and flows off or eventually evaporates. Great for CAI systems where rain can hit the filter and offers complete peace of mind.

Fits perfectly to our application. The prefilter is NOT water proof, but it does repel slight bits of water.

The hydro-shield has offered me much protection in the last 3 months as I have driven through some very rainy parts of south Texas. It also keeps my cone filter clean during normal driving, but the hydrophobic protection is why it should be purchased. Installation was easy, and I will inspect it every few months.I have heard that the hydrophobic coating wears off after a few months. That seems reasonable. If I have to buy 1 every 6 months, I won’t be disappointed. After all, the goal here is to protect my engine from hydrolocking.So far so good! My friend just purchased his for his TL Type-S and is very pleased.

Im surprised how good it keeps water away. especially the water droplets and mist! I used it to finish up my Cold Air Intake. Not only that but it makes my Odyssey look a lot nicer!

Fits perfectly and keeps water off but….it is expensive for a piece of tight mesh.As well bare in mind I didn’t get the filter in the picture, I got a red pre filter with a rubber injen badge with no marking of “Hydro Shield”. I don’t know which is better but it works and its injen.

Had this on and drove through lots of rain across the country. Not going to lie I’ve always driven cautious, but just last month I had to drive back from Austin where I’d returned to the night before Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. I waited a week to drive back and roads were still under. While taking back roads around Beaumont trying to get back for my final week of work in Baton Rouge I had to cross roads in marshland slightly under water, but vehicles in oncoming traffic ere casting title waves. I had no choice as I couldn’t turn around but to follow a lifted dodge in his trail marks in my Acura TL (lowered an inch). I felt like a wakeboarder and was positive I would hydrolock. I only found out there was no other roads on the other side of the submerged road. So I then had to return to the other side using the same path, but only found out the other side was slightly deeper. Adrenaline ran insane and I am very lucky and thank the Lord for these things. They work! Be smart though I’d never have done what I did if it weren’t the last option.

I have a eBay filter that came with my cold air intake (had to modify the piping because of fitment issues and had to turn it into a short ram…classic eBay no name parts) thats 6″ Base/ 4 3/4″ top/ 5″ tall. I was a bit worried because my filter top was a bit smaller than the 5″ the pre filters top measured at and that it would be slightly baggy on the filter but it fits amazing, way better than I expected. Appears to be great quality material and put together well, it should be considering the price which in my opinion is a bit steep but it is very competitively priced with other pre filters that I’ve researched . It does look different than the one in the description like another customer said but I prefer this one. I haven’t tested it but I will when I have some time and update my review. Its nice to have on for peace of mind especially if your filter leaves your engine bay like CAI’s do. I plan on creating an air tight heat shield box for my intake and running pipeing for cold air right to the filter so it will be nice that I wont have to worry to much about getting water in my engine. Also like another customer said it didn’t come with stickers which would have been nice…its surprising since most high end parts companies usually supply stickers with their products. I am happy with my purchase and recommend this product.Update: It is water resistant. I lifted up my hood after a good rain and water had pooled in my grille and when I lifted the hood up the water went directly on to the filter. The water slid off and beaded but I could see a bit of water underneath the cover on the filter. It does its job and is repellant.

Extremely tight fit. Overpriced but looks good. The shop that ordered my Ingen intake system for my 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT got a blue filter when I wanted red. It was too much hassle to exchange it. For convenience, I just got this red filter sock. This would be more functional for a cold air intake where water might be more likely to enter the intake. It’ll probably protect the filter from dust too though.

Car feels a lot peppier with this cold air intake. Intake is 50 state legal, no problem passing inspection. Looks like a million bucks installed!

It’s simply a must-have for cars facing mother nature! This is particularly the case for me since I live in a northern region of Canada! I use my car every day, especially in winter! So I bought this to protect my sports air filter! It’s been 2 years now and not a single drop of water or dust has reached my engine!I recommend this product for any car even if it only runs in good weather. It will protect your engine in all situations. It has proven himself for me!
