I couldn’t get a spark for the water heater to light while using gas only. I took the old part to the rv dealer for them to test, and it failed. The dealer said that these boards fail all the time, it part was cheaper on Amazon than the dealers cost. It was very easy to disconnect the old one and install the new. I could have tried using a lighter to ignite the gas when the old one didn’t work.

My rv has a tendency of burning out this board every 8 months also if we forget to turn off the the electric water switch if we turn off the water. It will easily burn out. Other than that it works great. Helps my rv get really hot water.

I got this board because it was available from Amazon overnight and I needed my hot water heater working. I live in my RV and I don’t care for cold showers. My water heater would ignite, but the board wasn’t detecting a flame and was immediately turning off. I figured it was either the board, or the ignition/sense probe.It turned out I didn’t need it. The problem was apparently the ignition/sense probe because I replaced the probe first (it’s the cheapest part), it’s working now on the board I already had. So understand that I’m reviewing it based on what I see about it, not having actually used it.Like most of these circuit boards, including the factory Dometic replacement, they’re poorly built. I installed this water heater in 2016 and within a year went through 3 Dometic boards. I can see from the other reviews and from other discussions I’ve found around the RV forums on the internet that this is a common problem. So I’m going to offer an alternative, here in a minute.As to this board, again I never installed it. But I looked it over and it looks about like all the others. I mean, c’mon, the fuse is soldered in and isn’t replaceable. Seriously?So back when I was replacing boards every few months I did a Google search for alternatives and discovered Dinosaur RV circuit boards. The board you need for most Atwood/Dometic gas/electric water heaters is the UIB 64. It will also run gas only with just a jumper change, or you can use a UIB S. It’s a little more expensive. $129.95 here on Amazon. But it’ll last. I’m not exactly sure when I bought mine, but it was probably around 2017-2018 and it’s been in continuous use since. (It’s now 11/2023 for anyone reading this review in the future.)Dinosaur boards are made in Lincoln City, Oregon. I also have a Dino board (a Fan 50 Plus) in my furnace. The Fan 50 Plus will run most Suburban and Hydroflame/Atwood/Dometic gas only furnaces, back to very old ones (my RV is a 1989 with the original furnace), up to all but the newest Dometic furnaces with the fancier controls. They have a great warranty and good customer service as well.Back to this board, I gave it 4 stars overall, just based on the fact that I could get it fast and I assume it would have worked. I dinged it a star for the soldered in fuse. (I mean really?) I gave it 3 stars on “Easy to Install” because it appeared the screw holes wouldn’t have lined up. I gave it 5 though for “value for your money” because it was $65 and I could get it the next day. My sort of local RV store wanted over $300 for a Dometic brand replacement and something like $250 for a UIB 64. That’d have been the only other way to get my W/H running without waiting until next week.Check them out. And I hope this review doesn’t get squelched because I spent more time talking about another product than the one I was reviewing.

It seemed to be of good quality and went right into the same spot as the original board. When we tried the water heater, it worked great for two months.Then the board went bad and no longer ignited the propane. Unfortunately, they won’t replace it!!
