Well worth the purchase to protect your computer and have indicator lights for your vehicle. The set up required a little time and basic wiring knowledge, as this was replacing my moped’s dash system. Depending on your vehicle’s set up you may need to manually insert and solder wires from the Trail Tech wire harness into your existing harness. It comes with a selection of buttons for you to choose what you want displayed plus a wire harness and extension piece. The computer is sold seperately.This particular dash is beneficial for moped and scooter users who want visual indicators for their bike. The lights could do with being a bit brighter or the buttons more translucent. It comes with a metal mount for the computer(see the image) which is of no use for a bike so the computer’s plastic bracket mount is all that is available

I thought the purchase was for the entire mechanism as the photo indicates. When I received the item I was surprised that it was only a part of the mechanism. My son was disappointed because now I have to go and purchase the screen for the mechanism to work. This item is no good to me without having the other piece for it to work.

I purchased this with the Trail Tech Vapor computer and installed them on my ’09 DR-Z400SM. The combination works and looks much better than the OEM instrument cluster. Wiring the LED lights in a variety of ways is possible. I chose to have a high beam indicator, neutral indicator, left/right blinker indicator, and an overheating indicator. I’m not an electrician nor a motorcycle mechanic, but I was able to figure out the wiring connections I needed to make the various LEDs work as expected, with a bit of trial and error. I had a couple extra fuses on hand for when I made an error when trying to figure out the wiring.

Great product but you better make sure you know your bike’s electrical system! Some lights on the OEM gauge cluster use resistance and grounding in the silicon panels, therefore you cannot use this gauge cluster for those specific lights. For example, the gas gauge on my 599 uses resistance in the wires and grounding in the gauge cluster. Not a simple hot and ground wire setup. So I couldn’t use this for a gas gauge. I used the blinkers on top, high beam on bottom right, and neutral on bottom left on this product. If you’re buying this, then you want some custom look and obviously you know about bikes. So, spare yourself the time and just don’t use these idiot lights. 5 stars though because the product is great!Used on 2004 honda 599 hornet

At $75 for a piece of plastic, a bracket and some bulbs, the expectations were high. The only thing not disappointing about the experience was the shipping, which amazon pulled off in under 24 hours!- Plastic came scratched- Breakout wires not long enough to be of any practical use (give us 3 feet of wire on the breakout connector trail tech, especially at the price you are charging)- Indicators are literally useless in daylight… At least if a cop pulls you over he’ll think you have dash indicators. I understand that it is difficult to produce a something visible in the sunlight, but the OEMs like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, etc are superior to this display.Save your money, go to princess auto and but the $2 panel LEDs, they are the same brightness 🙁

Yes, you have to read the description carefully to see that you don’t get the gauge that’s pictured. And yes, for a plastic trim piece, some wiring and two sets of bulbs, it seems overpriced. But then if you have a Trail Tech Vapor head unit and want to eliminate your bulky indicator lamp assembly and put everything in one place, then this is what you need. Just be prepared to do some of your own wiring. The included electrical connector is not sealed but neither are most Japanese dual sport connectors up front. I also bought a $50 open barrel crimper and a $17 box of connectors so I could make my own connector to the bike. So nothing about this unit is “plug and play”. Maybe a better description would save other buyers some headaches but anyone that’s dealt with Trail Tech before knows that “some assembly required” can be an understatement with their products. All that said, I still really like how compact and simplified my new dash will be on my DR650. And when looking at aftermarket gauge assemblies, Trail Tech is one of the best, if not the only, in my opinion. Just be ready to do a little of your own work.The quality of the plastic, bulbs and holders is decent enough. The plastic has to flex enough for you to snap it over the head unit. The included aluminum mount is kind of generic but it’s better than nothing. The wiring for the bulbs is so that the two pairs of bulbs share two grounds. For my application, DR650, I had to cut one ground wire and splice it to the other ground pair. So now three bulbs share one ground, for left and right signals and hi-beam, and one bulb will operate on it’s own for my Neutral indicator. The kit includes LED and incandescent indicator bulbs. The LEDS are a bit brighter, and I will be using those. Time will tell if they are too distracting for night riding.

Slightly disappointed with this purchase . Why put the picture as well of the unit because you don’t get the actual unit all you get is the black plastic trim and some spare bulbs . Also I do think maybe putting some spare magnets in there as it seems to be a common fault that they keep falling out so the speedo does not work .

2 stars because at the very least it works and looks good.but, this thing should just come with the trailtech computer. its a plastic case with some lights, and further more, 3 out of 4 LED’s were broken. I was forced to use the traditional bulbs that come with the unit. Anyway, for some plastic and wire and a few bulbs, It’d be better to pay your 3D printing buddy to make you one.

If you ask me it’s too pricey for what it is, other than that it’s really nice and a must if you intend to upgrade your street bike dash with a Vapor.
