I had to return the product because the module didn’t match the instructions they sent, the mechanic was not able to program, it did not work with my Subaru Outback 2013.

Bought this as a Christmas present, and the shipping times were kinda all over the place. I got it in a little over a week which was better than the 4 to 5 weeks that I was quoted. All cars are different so my review here is only going to be based on the one car I’ve installed this in, a Subaru Legacy. This was a Christmas present for my wife, and I try and do as much research as possible before getting into something. The next closest remote starter in terms of price that is plug and play is $300, and you have to send your remote start “computer” a way to them for them to do the continued programming part. This adds at least a couple of weeks, and I definitely wasn’t going to do that. There are cheaper options, but for my vehicle, there was no tea harness to buy, and I didn’t feel like installing a bunch of butt connectors and vampire taps (especially in part of the cars starting/immobilizer system). Taking my time and looking through the video and instructions each step of the way, the full install as well as the continued programming took right around an hour. My wife has been starting her car every morning in our driveway, and although we live in a relatively safe neighborhood it just doesn’t sit well with me. So I guess this is a gift for both of us. The instructions and video are thorough, and everything worked perfectly. If my vehicle did not come with a remote start, I’d be buying one immediately. Only downside, if you wanna call that, is that it uses the vehicle vehicles original key fob, which realistically only works over a pretty short distance. But for what we want to use this for (starting in the morning to warm up and right before she leaves work) it will be perfect. You absolutely cannot beat the price and ease of install. Great value overall if you have a little bit of car experience.

Videos and instructions make it so easy.Only real pain is mounting module and getting wires Zip tied. This is the 4th one I’ve done on different makes and models and this kit is absolutely amazing and for people that want DIY

This remote start works well and it was not too difficult to install it. I installed it by myself. The online videos were useful and after watching and figuring out which ports, etc I needed, I got it to work. One thing I really like about this remote start is that it keeps the engine running when I insert my keys into the ignition (I believe the Subaru brand remote start shuts off the car). One thing that is a little obnoxious is that when pressing the start button, the car beeps three to start, then it locks the doors (which is a great feature in case they weren’t already locked) but then it beeps again at the lock. And then if I’m on my way to the car, it beeps again when I unlock the doors. Just a ton of beeps which turns heads! Would still recommend. I love having it! Five stars if fewer beeps.

This was an easy install. READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE THE INSTALL. Watch a video or 2 before attempting. It was an easy install, but if you simply read the instructions or go step by step BEFORE knowing all the steps or watching a video and just send it you’re going to have a bad time.Works great! Range is now the best, but that’s based on my cars system, not the remote starters.

Finally decided to pull the trigger on getting remote start added to my 2012 subaru outback. I called a few shops and got quotes ranging, from $500-1000, decided to do a quick online search and came across the start-x product. For the price and reviews, I figured it couldn’t beat it to give it a try. The shipping on the product was great and showed up the next day. During that time I looked up the product on their website and watched a few videos, thought I would be ready to go when it came. Once I got the product, I used the QR code in the manual, and it brought up a different set of videos, which was a but confusing, but I saw that it matched the kit I received. Overall installation only took about 45 minutes from start to finish. The hardest part was probably getting some of the connectors out of the car itself. I do wish there was a printable form of the instructions as it required a lot of pausing and rewinding on the videos. Overall the videos did a great job, but paired with printed instructions it would have been even easier. Overall I am super happy with the product and can’t wait to have a warm car in the mornings when I leave early for work. Great product start-x!!

Trash, don’t buy it. After following the directions and doing this multiple times over, it did not work. We realized they sent a USED KIT PROGRAMMED TO ANOTHER CAR! So it would never worked for my car. Wasted a day after retrying multiple times and then killing my battery in the process and had to get a jump. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

On a 2011 Outback the install was kinda a pain. Maybe my hands are too big but I eventually got everything where in needed to go.Took about 2 hours from start to clean up.I’m happy with the end result and the starter works as advertised.I installed this today. I’ll update if problems pop up in the future.

Pretty easy install process if you follow the included instructions and watch the video. This is the second car I’ve put these on, and they just work. Higley recommend if you need to add remote start to a factory car that has key and door fob unlock.
