Front mounted hitch receivers allow a variety of accessories to be mounted on the front of trucks, vans, or SUV’s to perform tasks that make outdoor adventures and activities easier and more fun. Accessories are easily interchanged, so the receiver is a practical and versatile addition to sporting and work vehicles. All front mount receivers have a 2” square receiver tube opening and all attachments are J-Pin ready. Front mounted receivers offer a secure and useful attachment point and offer 9000 lbs. of line pull and 500 lbs. vertical load. The METALSHIELD protective coating process is a three step finish consisting of a rust inhibiting primer, dipped E-coat electrostatic coating to insure total finish coverage and finally an outer powder coat finish for durability. The METALSHIELD process is an OEM compatible finish providing the best corrosion protection over brands that use only powder coat on their products. Install time is an estimated 40 minutes and requires 18mm and 3/4″ socket wrenches and 1/2″ and 1-1/4″ drill bits.

This front hitch was not very hard to install. It fit my truck perfectly. We use it for a bike rack but a cargo tray is also a nice thing when the bed of the truck is taken up by the truck camper.

Where do I start. First off, amazon and Reese both indicate this fits my 2004 Dodge 2500 4×4. So i get this great big monstrosity delivered to my house and discover that some of the hardware is missing. That’s not a huge deal for me as I have tons of extra bolts laying around (joking). So I run to the hardware store to find matching bolts and head back home, mind you I live 45 minutes from the nearest hardware store. I prepare all my tools and climb under my truck. I begin to investigate what kind of challenge i’m facing and formulate a plan. First impression is this is going to be easy. I grab a jack and support the bumper just like the directions indicate (for once I read the directions, the very poorly written directions I might add) and remove the bolts. I then grab another jack to help lift the hitch, I start to raise it up and quickly discover this isn’t going to work. The vertical supports are not wide enough to go on the outside of the frame. Not being a huge deal, I grab my grinder and chop the ears off (problem solved so I think). I lift the hitch back onto the jack and raise it up. I then measure in multiple directions to verify its square with the frame. I mark out my holes and drill the 4 1/2″ holes. Now lets not forget this hitch is advertised as no drilling needed. I raise the hitch back up and start to install the bolts. But wait, I cant. I have to drill 2 more holes into the side of the frame to allow access into the frame channel. Guess what size hole is recommend? Yep, 1 1/4″ that huge. Fortunately I have access to all these tools that the manufacture says I wont need and bust a gigantic hole into my frame. So i proceed to install the bolts and torque them to the specified 75 ft lbs. Long story short, don’t buy this unless you have extensive experience in fabrication and mechanics. I cant recommend this product to anyone as it wont fit the desired application. Now your probably wondering whey I didn’t just send it back. We’ll we were leaving for a 2000 miles trip in a day and I needed it to haul my kids bicycles. Reese and Amazon, if you want to give me credit to my account I would appreciate that:)

I have not installed my receiver, but I have a friend with basically the same truck as mine and he did install the receiver on his truck. He had no surprises, looks great and works great.

I installed on 2004 Dodge 3500 diesel dually with 8ft bed. Will use for moving trailer around tight areas. Also install front step when servicing engine compartment. I think this hitch will also reinforce the front frame from any flexing when driving. Can’t hurt! Already have steering box brace installed with updated front end components to help correct the death wobble.

Appears to be made well. Fitment was great, not too difficult to install with two people. The biggest issue is that it is too low, you loose alot of ground clearance. If used for a winch, the winch will be about 12 inches above ground on a stock ht pickup. I’ve modified mine to work, but i will not use winch at full capacity. This was put on a 2007 Dodge ram 3500, 5.9.

While the installation was good, this receiver sits way too low! The application is correct and the 2” box is literally 7” off the ground. My truck is 2 wheel drive and has all stock suspension. It’s almost useless. I’ve ordered a 6” raise to see if this helps but my hopes are not high. I’m only using this for a bike rack when we’re pulling our 5th wheel. It may end up going back…. Uugggg

Installation was a little more work than I expected.Instead of drilling an 1 1/2 in hole to fish the bolts through as the directions indicated, I removed the bumper and accessed through the front of the frame. A little challenging but better than drilling more holes. Took me about 3 hours rolling around in my driveway.
