Fits a 2018 RAV4 adventure AWD very well. Toyota does not furnish front or rear recovery points on 2018 AWD RAV4’s.I guess they do not want us to tow the RAV4 AWD’s. even thought the owners manual states it OK at reduced speed for short distances. Manual states to tow with all wheels off the ground.

Bought them for son as a Christmas gift. He called me after he installed them. Said it was quick and easy. He also said that they looked great. Dont know how they will work, but seems to be sturdy enough!

The installation went well and looks nice. After only a couple of months, the black “powder coating” faded to light silver. They offered to replace the hooks, but I didn’t want to uninstall and reinstall so they’re painted now. I have doubts that the design will hold up to a hard tow, but I cannot confirm or deny that statement yet. They’re for emergency use only since we do not take this vehicle off road on purpose, and we haven’t had an emergency yet fortunately. The point where the base of the hook assembly threads into the bolt that goes into the frame is a small threaded piece, and the aluminum hook is not beefy. I’ve 4-wheeled and recovered vehicles for over 25 years, and I’m suspicious about this hooks ability to withstand a good pull.

TL;DR: Not the sturdiest tow hooks available, but potentially a very useful accessory for any compatible vehicle, including the 2018 RAV4 Hybrid.I bought a pair of this tow hook and a pair of another tow hook (ASIN: B0BZ1SXYFJ) for my 2018 RAV4 Hybrid. All four (two pairs) of these tow hooks fit my 2018 RAV4 Hybrid as advertised, and I’m keeping both pairs for completely different reasons.Overall, if you want a sturdy emergency tow hook, and you intend to use it only as an emergency tow hook, I would go with another tow hook (like ASIN B0BZ1SXYFJ). This other tow hook is one-piece, forged steel, and you wouldn’t worry about it failing under a heavy load. A guy driving a tow truck would trust ASIN B0BZ1SXYFJ, but (allegedly) not this item. So at first look, this item loses a couple of stars for robustness/sturdiness. However, it gets at least one star back because of its all-around utility beyond being a marginal tow hook.Despite being weaker than other tow hooks available on Amazon, this item terminates with a useful M14-2.0 threaded bolt (M14 Coarse Thread). The colored aluminum eyes can be screwed on to this 14mm end, or left off entirely, and when they’re left off, you have up to an inch of exposed M14 bolt to work with (measured between the point where the machining that immediately brings the diameter from 24mm to 14 mm starts and the inside of the supplied nut (with the nut placed at the end of the bolt to get the 1 inch maximum). Whatever you attach will be anchored to the vehicle via the M24-2.0 (Fine Thread) end. The threaded M14 ends fit fairly snuggly into 9/16 inch (14.3 mm) holes in what you want to mount, and for that reason, I’m keeping these. If you add some beefy 14mm or 9/16 fender washers and a few additional M14 nuts to secure things, you’ve got yourself a pretty flexible mounting option (limited by the still rather substantial M14 bolt size and coarse thread).For those with thread questions, the threaded end that screws into the front bumper (behind the small removable plastic panels on a RAV4) is M24-2.0, so that’s what you’re looking for in any tow hook for a 2018 RAV4 Hybrid. TIP: M24-2.0 (“M24 Fine Thread”) hardware is apparently quite rare. The much more widely-available M24 thread is the standard M24-3.0 (“M24 Coarse Thread”), which won’t work in this application. So don’t buy just any M24 hardware and expect it to work on your RAV4 or other compatible vehicle, because odds are you’d be buying M24-3.0 hardware (unless otherwise specified). Again, you need a tow hook with M24-2.0 threading for a 2018 RAV4 Hybrid, and this thing has it, as does ASIN: B0BZ1SXYFJ. You’re welcome.BTW, if you have a RAV4 and just want one tow hook, check the back of your vehicle, as Toyota might have already given you one. Look for your jack, and then dig around for the tow hook. If you didn’t get one (or you want a matching pair), you can go to the dealer to get one or two more, or you can possibly save some money and get a couple of these and/or a couple of ASIN: B0BZ1SXYFJ.Again, I’m keeping these hooks because of their utility beyond emergency towing. The other pair (ASIN B0BZ1SXYFJ) is better if you ever need emergency towing or need to help someone else in an emergency. But a pair of this item gives you a reasonably beefy and flexible attachment point to a compatible vehicle, after the addition of M14 or 9/16 fender washers, and M14 nuts (including jam nuts or acorn nuts if space permits, otherwise split washers, all of which are sold separately).Regarding installation, it was fairly straightforward but not perfect.I’ve never used my tow hook mounts before, so before installation, I hit the female mounting points in the RAV4 bumper (behind the small pop-off plastic panels) with vacuum, followed by air, followed by vacuum, to try to get those threads as clean as possible. I think that helped. I also put WD40 on the threads of this item, and then turned it in until I got resistance, then stopped, backed it all the way out, and then repeated the whole vacuum, air, vacuum, WD40 routine. Eventually, these (and the other ASIN, B0BZ1SXYFJ) will go smoothly into a 2018 RAV4 Hybrid, so just take your time and don’t force anything. You may have to stop one or two times to get a given tow hook all the way in, but these will eventually go all the way in. Notably, the threads on this particular item were very clean/precise, thanks in part to the solid protective packaging.Overall, I’ll give this 4 stars, largely because of its flexibility to be a mounting point for things other than tow hooks. As an emergency tow hook, this is probably not even 4 stars because of its smallish 14mm diameter at the end, and better options, including ASINB0BZ1SXYFJ, are available on Amazon if you want a sturdy emergency tow hook that fits the 2018 RAV4 Hybrid.
