I already own and very much appreciate what I believe is the venerable corded version of this excellent setup made by “Thinkcar.” This cord-free variant made by “Mucar,” which seems to be the same company or a subsidiary thereof of “Thinkcar” is a very similar scanner (even externally they look very much the same), but with the benefit of and what I feel is the awesome convenience of, a cord-free, Bluetooth OBDII connection to vehicles.I’ve been testing this unit out, and I have to say that I like what I see, and I am impressed with the quick responsiveness of this scanner. Let me start first by saying that I am a big fan of cord-free connections, and this unit really nails it when it comes to performance. Despite being a wireless Bluetooth connection, somehow, this unit seems to match the speed of its wired counterpart (the “Thinkcar” model I mentioned above). I’m not sure how they managed, but the responsiveness with live data has zero or very little delay (I would say less than 1-second), which means minimized frustrations for me. Everything loads up quickly, responds quickly, and the graphing functions provide for a great visual representation. While I’m a DIYer, I appreciate the fact that this unit unquestionably outclasses my capacities, but it gives me room to improve and not even come close to outgrowing its capabilities.And speaking of not outgrowing it – Mucar did the right thing (just like Thinkcar did with my other scanner) by providing for lifetime updates to the diagnostic and maintenance software of the scanner. To me, it is critically important, especially for expensive scanners like this one, that they don’t hit you up after a few years to pay for additional updates. In my opinion, these companies should easily be able to absorb the cost of updates, and not pass them on to the customers, so kudos to Mucar for doing the right thing here.The user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. Updates are simple, and fast as well. Just connect to a WIFI network and you are off to the races. The scanner can connect to both 2.4 and 5ghz networks (I’m connected to a 5ghz), and the downloads are sufficiently fast. And speaking of user-interface, the 8-inch screen on this scanner is fantastic. The brightness is adjustable, and the view is crisp, sharp, and vibrant. There is a narrow border around the screen so your thumbs don’t accidentally engage any selections on the screen.The exterior of the tablet has rubber overmolds on the right and left sides, making holding onto the scanner natural and comfortable. The back of the scanner has a sleek, integrated, stable kickstand that tucks completely out of the way when not in use. Also, the OBDII interface (the VCI) is magnetic, and it also attaches to the back of the tablet/scanner when not in use – pretty slick. The unit charges via a USB-C port, and a nice case is included for storage and transport. Also, the scanner uses an android-based operating system, and it comes with Chrome installed as a browser, so if needed, you can look up info on the web right from the scanner to assist in your repair/maintenance endeavors.This is not an inexpensive unit, with the current cost coming in at about $700. I will say, that for a modest or well-versed DIYer, this scanner is probably something of a Cadillac (no pun intended) of a scan tool to have at your disposal. The current price here on Amazon however is about $200 more than what the manufacturer is selling the scanner for on their website. To me, that’s a problem when it comes to rating this otherwise very much awesome scanner that I am very stoked to now have for my wrenching activities. I see this as a five-star scanner, with an unpalatable price tag at $700, and that ultimately means that given that current price, I’m coming in at four stars on this one. If that price drops to more competitive level, then I am in for five stars on this excellent diagnostic scanner.

Como Técnico Superior en Industria, siempre he creído que tener buenas herramientas no es un lujo, sino una necesidad, sobre todo cuando se trata de cuidar el coche familiar, que no solo nos lleva al trabajo, sino también a las actividades de las niñas y a las escapadas de fin de semana.Por eso, después de investigar bastante, decidí apostar por el Mucar 892BT Full System OBD2 Scanner… ¡y vaya acierto ha sido!Mi experiencia personal:Desde el primer momento me sorprendió lo fácil que fue ponerlo en marcha. Conectarlo y empezar a escanear el vehículo fue cuestión de minutos. Lo que más me impresionó es la capacidad de hacer diagnósticos bidireccionales, es decir, no solo lee fallos, sino que puede activar componentes para pruebas —algo que antes pensaba que solo los talleres profesionales podían hacer.Además, la opción de codificación ECU me permitió personalizar algunas funciones del coche que, sinceramente, pensé que solo podía hacer en el concesionario (¡y a precios elevados!). Also das ist ja mal ein richtig tolles Teil. Egal ob von der Optik, von der Haptik oder von der Verarbeitungsqualität her, es gibt erstmal absolut gar nichts daran zu meckern. Alles ist praktisch in einer stabilen Box untergebracht und auch der Lieferumfang kann sich sehen lassen. Das Gerät selbst ist sehr stabil ausgeführt und auch gut gegen Stöße geschützt, was in einer Werkstatt immer empfehlenswert ist. Der OBD-Stecker ist kabellos und befindet sich auf der Rückseite des Bildschirms und wird da via Magnet festgehalten. Das System unterstützt nahezu alle erdenklichen Fahrzeuge wobei hier beim auslesen der Fehler und dem Rückstellen von Services noch lange nicht Schluss ist. Da das Gerät via WLAN mit der großen, weiten Welt kommuniziert, wird es hier auch mit Updates versorgt und man kann auch darüber mit einer Community kommunizieren oder den Service kontaktieren. Sogar für ein Spielchen zwischendurch ist gesorgt. Für den Hausgebrauch auf jeden Fall ein top Gerät und auch für die kleine Werkstatt sicherlich ein Gerät mit Mehrwert.

La prima configurazione iniziale è davvero semplice: si imposta la lingua, ci si collega alla rete wifi e si accede da subito al sistema. I vari menu sono semplici da navigare, ovviamente all’inizio bisognerà prendere un po’ id confidenza, soprattutto se non si è pienamente del mestiere.Consiglio di scaricare da subito i pacchetti di aggiornamento per i marchi di veicoli che si vogliono scansionare. Il download e l’installazione avviene in automatico e senza intoppi. Gli aggiornamenti gratuiti a vita sono il plus di questo dispositivo che non diventerà mai obsoleto.Una volta in macchina mi è bastato collegare l’adattatore wireless e subito la mia auto è stata riconosciuta. Ho avviato la scansione generale e, per fortuna, non sono stati rilevati problemi. La scansione avviene in qualche minuto. Inutile dire che i check che si possono effettuare sono illimitati e di tutti i tipi.Il display touch è sensibile, il “tablet” è rinforzato ai bordi ed ha una comoda maniglia posteriore utile per appoggiarlo.In confezione c’è anche una borsa rigida oltre ai vari accessori.OBD2 che consiglio a chi vuole monitorare il proprio veicolo senza dover andare ogni volta in officina. Essendo ovviamente un prodotto professionale e di fascia alta, è pensato anche per piccole officine.

This is an excellent deal on a very versatile and capable scan tool.First, price. When calculating the cost of ownership of a scan tool, you not only need to consider the initial purchase price, but also the cost of updates. Most bi-directional tools such as this only get 2-3 years of free updates. Research the cost beyond that time period and be prepared for some eye opening numbers. The 892BT offers free LIFETIME updates that will save you hundreds, if not into the thousands of dollars over the life of the tool.In fact, if you purchase one of these, after you fully charge it, check for updates. Mucar released a very large and comprehensive update a few weeks ago. Get it.Another area to look into when comparing is the specs of the tablet itself. This is a fully functional tablet running Android 10 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Compare those specs to the tablets other manufacturers are using to cut costs.This has a wireless VCI. It connects to the tool via Bluetooth and attaches to the rear of the tablet magnetically when not in use. A nice quality storage case is included.This tool also features CAN FD connectivity. This is useful for late model model Fords and other cars. I had to purchase a CAN FD adapter for another scan tool we use, it cost $100.This has live data, multiple service functions, bi-directional control and ECU coding. ECU coding came in handy when I replaced the ABS module in one of my cars and I was also able to command an ABS brake bleed using the BT892.It’s impossible to list everything this scan tool can do for every make/model. A lot of that is dependent on what the car’s computer system will allow. If you have a question about a particular function for a specific make/model/year, go to the manufacturer’s website. There are charts available. You can also email them. I have found them to be quite responsive given the time zone differences.I think this scan tool is an outstanding value given the free updates, capabilities and initial cost. The Bluetooth connection with the VCI is stable, it boots up quickly, auto-VIN detection works well and the menu system is easy and intuitive to navigate. I highly recommend this scan tool.

I’ve used a lot of scanners and this bi directional scanner which requires no subscription service and has lifetime updates is a winner. I can program keys ,Car modules and all general maintenanceIt also has AI to help diagnose your problem. For approx $500 this is a keeper. They sell an add on for tpms tire sensors for about $100. I’ve programmed honda and lexus factory tpms sensors with this add-on. I’ve also programmed a crankcase sensor on a honda civic and re set maintenance / oil light on 2016 lexus.I am happy with this purchase. Small learning curve but that’s expected with a scanner that does so much.
