Climbing in and out of trucks ain’t for crybabies…it’s a real stretch of the muscles and faith. This helps. Installed in about 10 minutes with good instructions, nice krinkle-coated parts with decent hardware. The clips to hold the handle near where it will be used is a nice touch and might be the tipping point for accepting the asking price of $70 for the kit. It’s stout and works for this 240# guy so buy once/cry once and be happy each time you use it.

This Hatchlift Products – Stake Hand unit is very well made and certainly heavy duty…..it is nice that it comes with detailed directions and will be a great accessory for my truck since it is diffcult to pull myself up into the bed…..a great order.

I got a 2006 Ford F-150 and it did fit inside my truck bed. Overall is not that bad it makes you getting in and out a little easier. Just make sure you watch yourself that you don’t lean over or fall into it cuz it really could hurt

I was quite surprised when I received this kit. Pleasantly surprised, that is. It appears to be very strong and very well made. I am nearly 70 years old, 6’6” and 260 pounds. The days of me hopping in and out of pickup beds are long gone. This stake gives me a very strong handhold to drag myself up there and also a good place to grab so I don’t fall flat on my face getting out. The installation instructions were some of the best I’ve ever seen, even I had no problems following them.It was a nice surprise to find a good quality 10 to 120psi air gauge hidden in the handle.Even though it specifically states in the instructions that no threadlocker is supplied in the kit, there actually was a tiny sachet in the kit with plenty of threadlocker in it.They supplied enough parts to fit the two most common sizes of vertical rectangular stake pockets on the market. The only negative thing I did not like about the kit was their inelegant solution to storing the handle when not in use. Poking self tapping screws inside my truck bed is a no-no. I store the handle behind my truck seat. I wish that they had a way to secure the stake in the vertical hole when the truck is in motion, but they don’t. Same critique about using a flag pole, it is only safe to do so when static, that rules out any parade usage. Too bad.Now for something really positive. The fit and finish are nothing short of excellent! I don’t know what you call this type of finish but it is matte black and very finely stippled. I don’t know if that is called a stone effect or what the correct name is. I do know that the finish is really nicely done.Everything considered, this is terrific!I highly recommend it!

This kit looks like it was made in my neighbor’s garage, with things leftover from other projects. If that’s what this was, it wouldn’t be so bad because (unlike this product) it wouldn’t be terribly expensive. The good: I was able to install it on a 4th generation RAM, and it was pretty easy to do, even when using creative methods. It calls for sliding a plate into the stake pocket, but it also requires the receiver to share the hole at the same time. With current laws of physics, it’s pretty impossible on a Ram. I used a factory hole (see picture labeled Ram 3500) to hold the plate in place while screwing in the receiver and that was even easier, but might not work on other brands. It also does most of what it advertised it would do, as this would be a nice flagpole holder if it only cost a Jackson note. It also came with a nice rubber bungee that’s meant to be used with a hole on the pole receiver, but more on that later. Not so good: If your bed has rail caps from the factory, as 99% of trucks do, then this will engage the plastic rails, rather than the metal bed. See my picture of it standing straight, and then what happens with the rail when it’s pressured to a side. The actual handle is topped off by what looks like the rubber foot of a tube table leg. The other end is a poorly welded cap.The tire pressure gauge inside the handle is the 50 cent variety from the auto parts counter, remove it to avoid the rattle. The finish already came pre-worn due to the handle shipping installed on the receiver, which scores the bedliner-like finish. The bungee has a hook bent slightly different than common bungees, as it’s meant to go into a specific hole on the receiver when the handle isn’t installed. It’s covered on the instructions, but the plate that secured the receiver in the stake pocket blocked the hole, preventing the bungee hook from going in the hole, thus won’t work as noted on the instructions. For handle storage, it calls for drilling into the bed. Don’t drill your bed. I forced one of the included clips into a factory hole (see pic) and that did the job as well, time will tell if it flies off. This might not be worth the hassle, but the concept remains valid and that might be enough for you to get one.

My husband got this for his F150. Assembly was not difficult/straight forward. He uses his truck for work carrying around various pieces of equipment. Having this available made entry/descent much easier. Well made/ quality construction. A bonus it’s made in country and you know directly where your money is going. 10/10 recommend.
