This 12+8 Pin OBD2 Adapter is a bypass solution for the Security Gateway Module (SGM or SGW) which is installed on the latest Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles (built in around 2018 and later, see detailed models below). The module will not allow aftermarket scan tools to do bidirectional controls on the vehicle (limit to read data only: read DTCs and view sensor data). When using this 12+8 adapter cable, it’s possible to write data to the vehicle, which includes clearing trouble codes, adaptations, coding and programming.
The adapter is compatible with Au-tel MaxiSYS and La-unch X431 scanners, as well as wireless OBD2 scan tools (for example OBDLink MX+) & App like JScan OBD, AlfaOBD.
Note: This is only the adapter cable. OBD2 scan tool or software are not included.

Connection Step:
STEP1:
Locate and disconnect the 12pin and 8pin connectors of the SGW module.
STEP2:
Then connect the fca 12 8 cable adapter directly to the 12pin and 8pin connectors (two connectors connected to the SGW) on the car.
STEP3：

I recently picked up the AMHTDOL FCA 12+8 Pin Connector to OBD2 Adapter for my Jeep JL, and it works as expected. The adapter makes it pretty simple to connect to the vehicle’s OBD2 port for diagnostics, coding, and programming, especially when using the JScan app. Once connected, everything works smoothly, and I was able to start using it for my Jeep without any major issues.The only real challenge I faced was separating the Jeep JL factory harness to use this adapter. It’s a bit tricky, and you need to use a pick tool to get the harness apart. That part was definitely the most time-consuming, but once it was done, the adapter worked flawlessly.Overall, this is a solid tool for anyone needing a secure and easy way to access diagnostics and coding features on their FCA-equipped vehicle. It does what it’s supposed to, but just be prepared for the slightly tricky task of disconnecting the factory harness. Once that’s out of the way, the rest is a breeze!
