Could not get the fitting to do what it is supposed to do. Does not fit 1/2NPT. First time on almost 30 years I have had that happen.

I took one look at this and could tell it wasn’t going to fit my water heater. It sure would have been nice to have a spigot for a tank drain for the end of the year when we winterize it, but oh well..I did put this on the overflow drain tube though. We had water leaking out of it for a few weeks since the backflow preventer on my pump was stuck. I periodically drained the water off, so I’m still able to use it.Make sure you know the size of the valve you need for your hot water heater!

I had a valve just like this in an RV that I just sold. Made draining the hot water heater tank easy. I got this one to put into my new (new to me at least) RV. Well, no such luck. The heater in this new one incorporates a sacrificial anode rod into the drain plug. Before ordering one of these verify that your drain plug does not incorporate the anode rod.The valve itself is well made. I pressure tested the one that I got at 50 psig to make sure it didn’t leak before I went thru the trouble of installing it. That was before I found out about the anode rod.
