This roll of flux core stainless steel wire is fantastic. It arrives in a small box with the plastic spool of wire inside. The wire is wrapped in a cardboard sleeve with it being plastic wrapped, not vacuum sealed. The wire welds pretty great and was exactly what I was hoping to use as I don’t have any machines capable of using gas nor do I have easy access to cylinders.Overall, this allowed me to attempt and mostly successfully weld my small stainless steel projects that have been sitting around for a while and I’m pretty satisfied.

I don’t do a lot of stainless welding and what I have done mostly is Tig and not stick or wire and I thought that I might give my mig welder a shot on stainless since there are a couple of projects I’ve wanted to tackle for a while now. First in order for this to run a decent bead, I had to crank up the amps. far higher than I think it takes for mild steel but, this should not have surprised me even though it makes since that stainless melts at a higher temp than mild steel. After I had to do some tweaking with both the amps and the wire speed I got it to dial in and to my surprise you can run a fair bead stacking dimes without using gas shielding. I was a real sceptic to be truthful, I honestly didn’t think it would work even just a little bit without it looking like crap! So if you don’t have a welder capable of using shielding gas or if you’re like me and can’t afford to just go grab a separate bottle for a couple of welds then here is your answer to that problem. This will however turn the surface of your project a little bit blue from the heat but it sure does work I will attach a photo in the near future showing not my welding skills but, the fact that stainless can be welded without shielding gas. This is too cool… I say give it a try and see what you think!

I used this for making custom stainless exhaust, I used it with 75/25 shielding gas and it worked good for me
