This particular implementation of a bug deflector sits almost directly on the nose of the hood. There is barely any air gap between the deflector and the hood. In addition it is very important to get the front edge flush with the hood because the width of the hood must exactly match the sticking tape on the top side of the deflector or it will not hold adhesion. I was off about 1/ 4 inch and the passenger side will probably require additional adhesive tape.I actually prefer the old style deflectors that have about 1/2 to 1 inch Gap between the deflector and the hood surface. The old design may allow for some dirt to get in there, but it also allows for you to clean it out. With this new design I do not believe that it will be possible to clean underneath of the deflector at all. So if mud or small rocks get in, they would be trapped permanently. The composite material is similar to all of the other Hood deflectors I have used. There are no attachments screws involved, it is 100% sticky foam tape. Some people will like this new type of design and some won’t. I just wish that I had understood the particular implementation before my purchase. I was expecting the same type that I have on my CX-9 which basically sticks to the top of the hood and rises about 1 inch above the surface allowing it to potentially deflect rocks away from the Upper hood surface before they can reach it. This new design seems to only protect the nose of the hood.

At first I was spectacle that this item would adhere well without using any of the vehicle screws. So far it has been great (1 month). It is a bit tricky to get it on and make sure that you can get the tape backing off. I can see that this might be difficult for some people to get right and if they don’t the item won’t last long. I made sure the vehicle was clean and dry. I also made sure the temperature was around 60 degrees or better for a couple of days before mounting. Then I left it in the sun for an hour or so. Only time will tell but so far it looks great and is functioning as desired.

Easy install, took me literally 2 minutes, nice and sealed to the hood so it doesn’t look cheap and keeps debris out, if anyone gave it less than 5 stars is because they suck at life and shouldn’t be around automobiles

Looks good , just make sure your alignment is right. It’s different than other hood protectors but contours good looks like it came from the factory!!

Pretty simply to put on, as all products of this type, test fit, test fit, test fit. After your test fit and you’re happy with it, clean the area as best as you can with supplied products, I wiped the area down afterwards with a micro-fiber cloth, and then peel back tape, put the product on and finish removing tape…Follow the instructions… Press it down and you’re good to go. I waited a few days for everything to set properly before I took it to the car wash.I’m happy so far.
