  1. Imported from AmazonSource context: I first saw one of these things one moose hunting season when my buddies and I took down a 700-pounder. We’ve done this before, so we knew it would take us a good three hours of hauling ass to get it out. Another group happened along and saw what we were about to do, and offered to haul the carcass up using the winch they had strapped to the front of their truck. It took all of 30 minutes to get it on our truck. You can be sure I got one for my own truck, complete with the trailer hitch since I didn’t want to mess around with a chainsaw I didn’t have. I am now ready for deer season!

***** Updated Review*****This thing is sitting in my garage with more broken or worn pieces than I feel like i want to deal with. Like I said before, it pulls great when its time to do that, but holding a load is impossible with the cheap brake and letting the load go/ release (if it pulls back) has become pretty much impossible without burning the clutch on the power head. I guess my biggest problem with this is that it simply wasn’t built to be as versatile, tough, or easy to use as I thought a “portable winch” should be. It’s helped me with a few tough projects, but the amount of work required to get it ready really isn’t worth it half the time.It pulls good. Unfortunately I’ve had trouble with mine and I think the design could use a little work. Like I said, the pulling function is great, but the the breaking mechanism broke because of a shoddy weld. Also, this Winch doesn’t have an easy way to easily/ safely let tension off if it’s still under load, for whatever reason. I’ve spent nearly as much time working on this as using it. Also, as mentioned by other users, the drum needs to be bigger cuz the cable it comes with barely fits. If you pay enough attention to spool it up perfectly, you won’t be paying enough attention to your load. If you don’t pay attention to how it spools though, you will jam the Winch with the cable, and ruin your cable in the process… It’s a good tool to have, but time and frustration will be the cost.

One of the drive chains has a raised backs on the links that stopped the input from turning. It was also two drive links too long. After I shortened the chain I discovered the problem with the chain interference. The other chain provided had a flush back and would have worked fine buts I had already shortened the other one so I ground off ground the back of the chain flat. I didn’t see any mention of this in the directions.

don’t waste your money you will have to buy a chainsaw from the company that makes the winch. It is a good design but honestly advertising that it fits any chainsaw is a lie. I have tried it on every one I have and even have gone as far to buy another off brand chainsaw in hopes that it would fit. It didn’t. So, I had to return it and wait for my money to be returned several weeks now.

Adapters are garbage to adapt winch to chainsaw. The design wants to twist the winch badly and spool all of the cable on one side under load the pin on the locking mechanism broke the first 10 seconds of use put a bolt in the second pin that holds the lock to the sprocket broke within another 15 seconds was able to tap it out to continue to try and use it. Then the swedge on the end of the cable came disconnected before even reaching 500 lb of pole on an empty trailer on flat ground would not recommend would not risk using again absolute garbage.

My saw will not fit next to the winch while engaging the input gear set. This is upsetting, but even more so; your ad was only positive about direct drive from a chainsaw. I call this deceitful.
